FAQs

WHAT IS CFJ?

Creating for Justice is a growing network of activists/professionals who offer artistic and professional services for extremely competitive rates. One-hundred percent of donations for these services directly benefit anti-racist organizations such as the NAACP, Black Lives Matter, The Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, and many more!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We’re glad you asked! Check out our Services Page, and select the service that piques your interest! Donate any amount, and we will set you up with the appropriate instructor!

WHO STARTED CREATING FOR JUSTICE?

Creating for Justice was founded by Casey Neubauer and Taylor Masamitsu, New York-based husbands. CFJ actively wants to center the narrative of its work around the BIPOC communities it serves. However, if you would like to learn more about Casey and Taylor, check them out on our about page.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AMOUNT FOR DONATIONS?

NO! CFJ recognizes that donating money is a privilege in and of itself. For this reason, our services are available for donations of any size!

CAN I USE ONE SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES?

YES! Our whole team would love to work with you, and we always strive to build ongoing, fruitful relationships!

What does it mean to be a member of cfj?

We offer two membership options at Creating for Justice. All members receive a monthly edition of AMPLIFY, CFJ’s newsletter that contains the latest news and resources to get involved in this fight. Additionally, members can learn from our volunteers on a recurring basis. You can read more about your membership options on the Become A Member page.

how can i cancel my membership?

You can cancel your membership through PayPal directly. If you have any issues canceling through PayPal, CFJ will do it for you! Submit a cancelation form here, and your cancellation will be processed as soon as possible.

Where does my donation go?

Great question! The answer is — it depends! There are three ways to donate to CFJ.

  1. Donations made specifically for a service via the services page:

    • 100% of these donations are forwarded to the organization the volunteer supports. If you are interested in a specific service but would prefer for your donation to go elsewhere, let us know! CFJ will work with you to make sure an organization of your liking receives the funds.

  2. Membership Dues:

    • Monthly membership donations are used, firstly, for operating costs. Once our low operating costs (approximately $250/month) are satisfied, the Board of Directors votes on where to send excess donations. Excess money will always benefit at least one organization that aligns with CFJ’s mission.

    • As of this July 2020, all CFJ employees are volunteers, but we hope to use membership dues to compensate our volunteers in the future! Check out how you can become a member, get in this fight, and create paying jobs for social justice activists!

  3. Donations made directly to CFJ via our donate page:

    • Like membership dues, direct donations cover CFJ’s operating costs; once these are satisfied, the Board of Directors votes on which organization(s) receive(s) the excess funds.

so, you’re doing this for free?

Yes, we are, because it is the least we can do. CFJ is a group of passionate volunteers who will not stop fighting for social justice. Our mission is to continually amplify BIPOC voices; however, we hope to compensate the CFJ employees as we grow. All future compensation will be a reasonable amount determined by the impartial, unpaid Board of Directors. CFJ will also post its annual tax returns on this website, because transparency is one of its core values. Each year, the community can see exactly who receives money and how much!
